Angelus Hut

The Nelson Lakes area is a seriously underrated area of New Zealand. People travelling in New Zealand are generally most interested ticking off the great walks in Fiordland, and I can’t blame them to be honest. They’re marketed well and the tracks are generally to quite a high standard.

But if you’re a tad more experienced and up for a bit more of a challenge, Nelson Lakes National Park has a plethora of hiking track options and some of the most accessible alpine hiking tracks in the South Island.

This walk is a smaller and slightly altered version of the Travers Sabine Circuit, and at 2 or 3 days is a great option for a weekend or long weekend adventure.

For something a bit longer check out the Waiau Pass Route guide I have, but alternatively click the picture below to check the Angelus Hut guide!
