Milford Track

If you were to ask me of the three Fiordland Great Walks which I’d recommend to do if you only had time for one, I’d be hard pressed to select either of them. They all offer something unique and by just choosing any to walk is a step in the right direction. The Milford Track is one of those walks that has so much hype around it due to how quickly is sells out and really that’s a testament to the marketing campaign that has been put behind.

It’s the wettest Great walk and it most definitely is one of the hardest to get to and from but these are the very two things that make it so special. There’s an anticipation that arises when you have to journey to get somewhere and the journey adds to the whole experience making the track feel somewhat exclusive. Marvel at the waterfalls, chase away cheeky Weka trying to steal snacks from your pack and pray that you get some clear skies for whenever you book into it.

Oh, and I’d recommend hiking directly after the great walk season for those who miss out on bookings!
